Handwritten sermons, including children's sermons, preached by Billings as a minister in various Congregational churches in Massachusetts. Also included are a journal of sermons given and various undated writings, notes and letters.

Biographical / Historical

Osmond Jesse Billings was born on July 9, 1878, in Sharon, Mass. He went to Sharon High School, Boston Latin School, Amherst (BA 1900) and Yale Divinity School (BD 1905). He served as minister at the First Congregational Church in Upton (1908-1915), Union Evangelical Church in Three River (1915-1924), Central Congregational Church in Orange (1925-1936), First Congregational Church in Newbury (1936-1944); and as pastor to the First Congregational Church in Georgetown (1944-1952). In 1926, Billings married Rena Nutting in Amherst. They had three children, Edward, Elizabeth and Carolyn. Billings died in 1978.
