Biographical / Historical

Frank Charles Partridge was born to Charles Franklin and Sarah Ann Rice Partridge on May 7, 1861, in East Middlebury, Vermont. He attended Middlebury High School and graduated from Amherst College in the Class of 1882. He then studied law in New York at the Columbia Law School, from which he graduated in 1884. He was active in his town (Proctor, Vermont) and in politics. He served as private secretary to Secretary of War Redfield Proctor, and as secretary to Secretary of State James G. Blaine. He was also active in business (Vermont Marble Company, Clarendon and Pittsford Railway Company, etc.). He served in posts in Venezuala and Morocco.

On May 7, 1907, Partridge married Sarah L. Sanborn, with whom he had five children: Frances, Charles F. (AC 1933), Sanborn (AC 1936), Ruth and David.

Partridge died in Proctor, Vermont, on March 2, 1943.
