Scope and Contents

The Amherst College Non-Alumni Biographical Files document individuals associated with the college as faculty, staff, honorary degree recipients, trustees, visiting speakers and artists or in any role other than student. Files contain information about the individual and their relationship to the college and may including newpaper clippings, photographs, curriculum vitae, pamphlets, correspondence and other materials. Some files contain biographical questionaires submitted by the individual to the alumni office for inclusion in the Amherst College Biographical Record.

The primary role of the individual in relationship to the college is noted in the file title except where it could not be determined. File dates are the dates of the creation of the material in the file and not the dates of association with the college.

Individuals who were ever matriculated students of the institution are documented in the Amherst College Alumni Biographical Files.

The files are arranged alphabetically by the name of the subject of each file. Files are grouped by first letter for ease of navigation. Where there is more than one file associated with an individual, the number of files is noted.
