Scope and Contents
The collection consists of New Year greeting cards sent to Amherst College alumni by the College. Also included are several scrapbooks of the cards, and a letter advocating the creation of a display of the cards.

There is no restriction on access to the New Year Greeting Cards Collection for research use. Particularly fragile items may be restricted for preservation purposes.
Conditions Governing Use
Requests for permission to publish material from the New Year Greeting Cards Collection should be directed to the Archives and Special Collections. It is the responsibility of the researcher to identify and satisfy the holders of all copyrights.
Biographical / Historical
In 1921 the Alumni Council of Amherst College instituted the sending of New Year greeting cards to alumni. The cards often contain artistic scenes from the campus or reproductions from the collection of the Mead Art Museum.

The greeting cards are arranged chronologically. Undated greeting cards and scrapbooks of greeting cards are located at the end of the chronological series.
