Scope and Contents

Series 3: Scrapbooks - contains material largely related to: JJM's activities as head of the World Bank; news clippings, photographs and signatures related to JJM's activities as High Commissioner of Germany (HICOG); scrapbooks assembled by other people and sent to JJM as mementos of a given occasion, such as the 20th anniversary of the World Bank or the launching of the U.S.S. Henry L. Stimson.

Conditions Governing Access

In general, there is no restriction on access to the John J. McCloy Papers for research use. Selected items may be restricted to protect the privacy rights of individuals or for other legal reasons. Particularly fragile items may have been replaced with copies. Material from other collections, which may be found in the McCloy Papers, cannot be duplicated.

Much of the scrapbook material is related to the contents of other series. For example, photographs of JJM giving a particular speech might be found in the scrapbooks, whereas the speech itself would most likely be found in Series 4: Speeches. For additional HICOG material see Series 13A and 13B. For Photographs see Series 6.
