Series 4: Gordon Family, 1809-1891
Scope and Contents
The Gordon Family series includes two scrapbooks and one file of loose manuscripts and ephemera. The exact family connection between William Pitt Amherst and the Gordon family is uncertain. Lady Julia Emily Gordon (1810-1896) was the daughter of General Sir James Willoughby Gordon, 1st Baronet and Quartermaster General of the Forces and Isabella Julia Lavinia (1775–1867), daughter of Richard Henry Alexander Bennet of Shorwell, Isle of Wight.
