An excerpt: "He used to build models of airships in the 1880s, and was a friend of Samuel P. Langley. He flew a model from the top of the College tower in the '80s which landed down by the Central Vermont tracks. He was very interested in ballooning, and made many flights...shortly after the forming of the Aero Club of American in 1904 (of which he was one of the founders)...
