Scope and Contents File includes letter (15 March 1936) from Millicent Todd Bingham regarding her father's early interest in aviation. An excerpt: "He used to build models of airships in the 1880s, and was a friend of Samuel P. Langley. He flew a model from the top of the College tower in the '80s which landed down by the Central Vermont tracks. He was very interested in ballooning, and made many flights...shortly after the forming of the Aero Club of American in 1904 (of which he was one of the founders)...

Sub-series G: The Octagon contains Amherst College records, correspondence, and ephemera. Visual materials include artwork, prints, photographs, and slides. College records concern scientific equipment and funding, as well as building maintenance. Interior views reveal the many changes in use from 1876 to circa 1970, with a majority dating from the late nineteeth century. Exterior views, dating from 1856 through about 2004, cover a wider span of time.
